Cooroy’s Dolphins leap to Little Penguins rescue
The children in the ‘Dolphin’ Preschool Room at Tadpoles Early Learning Centres, Cooroy are doing their bit to help protect Australia’s Little Penguins. This week, they adopted a toy Penguin Buddy from the Foundation for National Parks & Wildlife's new Backyard Buddies program that helps protect native animals.
To their delight, a Penguin Buddy – complete with an adoption certificate and wristbands for the children, set foot in the centre on Friday. “We will have a naming competition, and will take turns at taking our penguin home for ‘sleepovers’. We will keep a journal with the children’s drawings of his many adventures,” says Ms Scott. “Through the generosity of children like those at Tadpoles, Scientists in Western Australia, South Australia, Victoria, Tasmania and New South Wales receive funding from our Penguin Buddy program to study and protect penguins in the wild,” says Ms Gale, CEO of the Foundation for National Parks & Wildlife.
